Research

PBA Applied Ecology is involved in research programmes alongside universities across the UK. We seek to develop innovative approaches to enhance and improve both the services we provide to our clients as well as the science which underpins our understanding and approach.

Our relationships with leading research institutes at the University College London, Kings College London, University of Bristol and the University of Leeds continue to produce advancements in our understanding across a range of fields:

  • Development of novel river crayfish sampling methodology to inform future control techniques

  • Novel eDNA sampling techniques to identify the presence of freshwater species

  • Freshwater fish and crayfish population demographics in the north of England

  • Ecological response to physical disturbance events

  • The capacity of repeat floods to drive geomorphological change in low order rivers

  • The effect of floods on salmonid population size structure and trophic linkages
